The AAI Public Policy Fellows Program (PPFP) is a one-year professional development initiative designed to empower early-career biomedical researchers—especially those in immunology or related fields—to become effective advocates for science policy and federal research funding. Fellows receive specialized training in science advocacy, participate in monthly virtual meetings with AAI government affairs staff, contribute to legislative activities (such as drafting congressional testimony), and attend the AAI annual meeting. The program culminates in a two-day Capitol Hill Day, where fellows meet with Congressional representatives to advocate for biomedical research and increased NIH funding. The fellowship is structured to fit alongside existing research positions, with most activities conducted virtually except for the Capitol Hill Day (travel covered by AAI).
