The AAS Education & Professional Development (EPD) Mini-Grant Program funds workshops and professional development activities that enhance educational and mentoring practices among members of the American Astronomical Society (AAS). The program aims to promote evidence-based, inclusive, and equitable approaches to teaching, mentoring, and outreach in astronomy. Supported activities can take place at AAS meetings, academic institutions, museums, planetariums, observatories, or online, and must directly engage AAS members as primary participants.
The program encourages collaboration with other AAS groups and supports a broad array of initiatives, including training in inclusive teaching practices, research-based instructional methods, and career development for student members. Both logistical and direct financial support are provided, with an emphasis on activities that demonstrate broad impact, research-informed strategies, and a plan for assessment and dissemination.
