The AAS Northeast Asia Council (NEAC) Distinguished Speakers Bureau provides funding for American (and, for Korean studies, Canadian) colleges and universities—especially those with limited or developing East Asia programs—to host distinguished scholars of Japan or Korea for public lectures, classroom visits, and campus engagement. The program is designed to foster greater understanding of East Asian topics by facilitating direct interaction between leading experts and campus communities, with the aim of strengthening East Asia–related education and public engagement.
