The Accelerator Grant from the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) is a targeted initiative to enhance the impact, reach, and inclusivity of HFSP Research Grants. It allows teams awarded an HFSP Research Grant (Program or Early Career, 2026) to integrate one additional independent scientist—based in India, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Singapore, or South Africa—into their ongoing international and interdisciplinary project. The initiative is designed to foster diversity, equity, and collaborative innovation by supporting the inclusion of researchers from countries historically underrepresented in HFSP grants. The new team member must bring distinct expertise, adding value and new perspectives to the existing research. The grant provides an extra $100,000 per year for the second and third years of the original Research Grant, supporting the expanded team and the new sub-project.
