Description
This opportunity supports State Units on Aging (SUAs) and federally recognized Tribal Organizations that are current grantees under Title VI of the Older Americans Act (OAA) in responding to major disasters declared by the President. The grant provides reimbursement and assistance funds to address the needs of older adults in disaster-affected areas, filling gaps not covered by other disaster funding sources. Eligible activities include outreach, information and assistance, case management, advocacy, staff overtime, emergency food and supplies, home-delivered meals, home cleanup, emergency medications, transportation, and other immediate needs for older adults.
Funding is only available for areas included in a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration under the Robert T. Stafford Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Applicants must coordinate closely with their ACL Regional Office before submitting an application, including discussing the amount of funds requested and providing a draft narrative justification.
