    Description

The ACLS Fellowships provide funding for outstanding research in the humanities and interpretive social sciences, supporting scholars at all postdoctoral career stages. The program welcomes applications from all disciplines, time periods, world regions, and humanistic methodologies, and aims to foster inclusive excellence by encouraging applications from scholars of diverse backgrounds and institutional affiliations. The fellowship is intended to enable recipients to devote six to twelve months to full-time research and/or writing, with the ultimate goal of completing a major scholarly work—such as a monograph, series of articles, digital project, public humanities initiative, or critical edition.

Awards are portable and may be held at any appropriate research site. Additional opportunities include project development grants for faculty at teaching-intensive institutions, a range of named fellowships in specific fields, and residential fellowships at the New York Public Library’s Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center (which require a separate application).
