The Advanced Fellowships (for returning Members) at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) provide several full academic year awards for advanced graduate students wishing to pursue independent research in Greece. Typically intended for those completing their Ph.D. dissertation or comparable scholarly projects, these fellowships support research that requires extended residency in Greece. Fellows benefit from stipends, housing, and access to the School’s resources, including its libraries and research facilities. The awards are adjudicated based on the necessity of being in Greece and the feasibility of the proposed project. Recipients are expected to conduct their research in-country, regularly consult with the Mellon Professor, present their work publicly, and submit a final report and resulting publications to the School’s library.
