    Description

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) anticipates releasing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Advanced Laboratories for Accelerating the Reach and Impact of Treatments for Youth and Adults with Mental Illness (ALACRITY) Research Centers. This program aims to support interdisciplinary research centers conducting high-impact studies to significantly improve clinical practice and transform mental health care in the United States.

ALACRITY Research Centers are intended to:

    • Rapidly develop, test, and refine novel and integrative approaches for optimizing therapeutic or preventive interventions for mental disorders.
    • Develop and test empirically informed interventions at the patient, provider, and system levels to improve access, engagement, continuity, efficiency, and quality of mental health care.
    • Continuously improve the quality, impact, and durability of interventions and health outcomes for individuals with or at risk for mental health problems, including serious mental illness.

Centers are expected to maximize synergies across the mental health research ecosystem, leveraging advances in clinical research, health care technologies, information science, and organizational mechanisms. The initiative encourages applications from teams with interdisciplinary expertise in behavioral science, data science, health systems engineering, decision science, and implementation science. Proposals must include plans for widespread data and resource sharing and provide opportunities for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career investigators.
