Description
This Horizon Europe call funds research and innovation projects aimed at developing or improving scalable processes and technologies for the efficient collection, sorting, recovery, and recycling of strategic and critical raw materials from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The goal is to enhance the recovery rates of materials such as rare earth elements and precious metals, reduce reliance on imported raw materials, and mitigate the environmental and climate impacts associated with extraction. Projects should integrate innovative approaches (including AI, bio-based, or breakthrough technologies), ensure the quality and competitiveness of recycled materials, and support the creation of a sustainable and economically viable waste market. The call encourages the development of standards and practices that contribute to biodiversity preservation, sustainable consumption, and the competitiveness of EU secondary raw materials.
