Description
This opportunity, issued by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation (Office of the Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund, ACN/NDF), seeks proposals for projects that will help advance civilian nuclear power in Türkiye. The program aims to develop and implement a cooperative framework with Türkiye to strengthen its civil nuclear energy infrastructure, particularly in light of its selection of non-U.S. reactors and potential engagement with non-U.S. suppliers.
Two main lines of effort are envisioned:
- Civil Nuclear Regulatory and Licensing Best Practice Exchange: Facilitates sharing of U.S. and international regulatory best practices to help Türkiye develop robust nuclear regulatory frameworks and safety cultures.
- Civil Nuclear Financing Options Development: Provides technical advisory services and capacity building for Turkish stakeholders on financing strategies, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement for nuclear energy projects.
Additional support activities may include curriculum development, workshops, study tours, and virtual or in-person capacity-building initiatives.
Expected outcomes include enhanced understanding of nuclear project financing, improved regulatory capacity, facilitated dialogue between regulators and financiers, and identification of barriers and solutions for safe, secure, and sustainable nuclear energy deployment in Türkiye.
