The Africa Regional Research Program (ARRP) enables U.S. scholars to undertake research projects in up to three Sub-Saharan African countries (excluding South Africa), with the goal of strengthening academic ties and contributing to scholarship on Africa. The program encourages projects that foster collaboration between U.S. and African academics, particularly in less-visited countries. Scholars are expected to engage with host universities and U.S. embassies through lectures, seminars, and by sharing research findings. The program is open to all disciplines and offers both continuous and flexible (Flex) grant options, allowing for either an uninterrupted research period or multiple short-term stays over two years.
