This forecasted opportunity from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will support new, renewal, and competing revision applications for research project cooperative agreements (U01) focused on aging and/or Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (ADRD). Research areas include genetic, biological, neuroscientific, preclinical, clinical, behavioral, social, psychological, and economic studies on aging and the health and well-being of older adults. Special emphasis is placed on Alzheimer’s disease and ADRDs, including frontotemporal dementia, vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia, Lewy body dementias, and multiple etiology dementias. The cooperative agreement mechanism (U01) involves substantial NIH programmatic involvement, such as milestone planning, access to NIH resources, and participation in collaborative and oversight activities. Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact NIA program staff to discuss the alignment of their research with NIA priorities.
