--- ## Description The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the NIH, intends to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to support interdisciplinary research focused on the development of complex mammalian three-dimensional (3D) in vitro microphysiological systems (MPS) to model aging. The aim is to recapitulate aging processes and phenotypes observed in vivo, with a primary focus on human cell-derived systems such as tissue chips, organ-on-chip platforms, and tissue organoids. Systems using nonhuman mammalian cells may be considered for benchmarking, validation, or when justified for relevance to human aging biology. The program is expected to support exploratory, early-stage research and encourages multidisciplinary approaches, integrating expertise from aging biology, stem cell biology, tissue and organ physiology, microfluidics, bioengineering, computational biology, pharmacology, and biostatistics. Preliminary data will not be required.
