    Description

This program funds research under the Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI), aiming to bridge gaps in knowledge about the genetic and phenomic traits of crops and animals significant to U.S. agriculture. The initiative supports projects that:

    • Study agriculturally significant crops and animals in real-world production environments.
    • Fill critical gaps in current knowledge of crop and animal genetics and phenomics.
    • Identify and functionally characterize genes relevant to agriculture.
    • Enable future genetic improvement of crops and animals.
    • Explore diverse germplasm as sources of unique, agriculturally important genes.
    • Enhance genetic resistance to reduce the economic impact of pathogens.
    • Disseminate findings to stakeholders and the broader agricultural community.

The program encourages applications from consortia of eligible entities to foster multidisciplinary collaboration.
