--- ## Description This funding opportunity from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) seeks proposals to advance understanding and improvement of diagnostic safety within the diverse ambulatory care environment. The grant aims to generate evidence on the incidence and contributing factors of diagnostic errors across various outpatient settings, including primary care, urgent care, specialty clinics, telemedicine, and more. Applicants are encouraged to address diagnostic error complexity, associated costs and harms, and factors contributing to disparities (e.g., age, race/ethnicity, gender, social determinants of health, disability, multimorbidity). Research may focus on topics such as identification and reduction of diagnostic errors, patient and family engagement, provider education and training, health information technology, work system improvements, and the external environment. Projects that explore inequities in diagnostic safety and propose innovative approaches to measurement or intervention are especially welcome. --- ## Due Dates - February 5, 2024: First full application due date (standard due date) - March 25, 2026: Final application submission deadline All applications are due by 5:00 PM local time of the applicant organization. --- ## Funding Amount - Maximum of $500,000 total costs (direct + indirect) per year - Maximum of $2,000,000 total costs for the entire project period (up to 4 years) - Project period may not exceed 4 years - No cost sharing or matching required --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - Public or private institutions of higher education (including HBCUs, Hispanic-serving institutions, TCCUs, AANAPISIs, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions) - Nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) IRS status (excluding institutions of higher education) - State, county, city, township, and special district governments - Independent school districts - Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities - Federally recognized and other Native American tribal governments/organizations - Faith-based or community-based organizations - Regional organizations - Eligible agencies of the federal government **Ineligible:** For-profit organizations, non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities, and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations.
