Summary: Supports intensive, mentored research career development for clinical doctoral scientists in health services research to foster independent research careers aligned with AHRQ’s mission.
This opportunity provides support for individual mentored research career development for clinical scientists aiming to become independent investigators in health services research. The program is designed to enhance the pool of highly trained health services researchers who can address the mission and priorities of the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ). The grant offers a structured period of didactic learning and mentored research, with a focus on projects relevant to U.S. healthcare delivery, quality, access, equity, and cost-effectiveness.
Awardees are expected to use this sustained period of research and training (3–5 years) to launch an independent research career, become competitive for larger research grants (e.g., R01), and contribute to AHRQ’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce disparities, and advance health equity.
