Description
The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) offers partial financial support for conferences and workshops that advance scientific and technical knowledge in areas relevant to the U.S. Air Force's basic research mission. These events should facilitate the exchange of research findings, expose researchers and advanced graduate students to new techniques, and foster collaboration in fields of interest to AFOSR. Funding is intended to support the organization of events that align with AFOSR's current research priorities, as described in their Broad Agency Announcement (BAA).
Due Dates
- Rolling submission: Proposals are accepted at any time.
- Submission timing: Proposals must be submitted at least six (6) months prior to the start date of the conference or workshop.

Funding Amount

Eligibility
- Eligible applicants:
- U.S. institutions of higher education (public or private)

- Foreign public entities and foreign organizations operated primarily for scientific, educational, service, charitable, or similar purposes in the public interest
- Ineligible applicants:
- For-profit/commercial organizations
- Co-sponsorship with commercial concerns is prohibited
- Encouraged: Proposals from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Minority Institutions (MIs), and Tribal Colleges/Universities are encouraged, but no set-aside funds are reserved.
Application Process
- Submission platform: All proposals must be submitted electronically via Grants.gov.
- Required timing: Submit at least 6 months before the event start date.

- SF 424 (R&R) Application for Federal Assistance
- Project Summary/Abstract (publicly releasable, ≤300 words)
- Project Narrative (including event objectives, relevance to AFOSR, participant list, and relationship to AFOSR research topics)
- Budget and Budget Justification (itemized, with sources of cost share)
- Biographical sketches for key personnel
- Other required forms (see full announcement for details)
- No confidential or proprietary information may be included.
- SAM.gov registration and a valid UEI/CAGE code are required.
Additional Information
- Partial support only: AFOSR will not fully fund events; applicants must identify other funding sources.
- No cost sharing required: Voluntary cost share should be documented.
- No support for events already started: Awards cannot be made after the event has begun.
