    Description

The AIST Foundation Steel Professor designation is designed to maintain an active connection between universities and the steel industry by recognizing faculty who have completed three years as recipients of the Kent D. Peaslee Junior Faculty Award (KDP JFA). The program encourages ongoing engagement with the steel sector through educational events, student outreach, and the promotion of AIST Foundation opportunities on campus. Designated professors are expected to organize activities such as "Steel Day," facilitate plant tours and research projects, encourage student participation in AIST Foundation programs, and provide guidance to both students and the KDP JFA selection committee. The initiative supports the Foundation's mission to attract technology-oriented professionals to careers in steelmaking and fosters a vibrant academic-industry partnership.
