This grant is designed to encourage medical students—particularly those from diverse backgrounds—to pursue academic careers in emergency medicine research. It supports self-contained research projects that can be completed within one year and are relevant to current or future emergency medicine practice, including educational research. Preference is given to projects addressing emergency department operations, administration, health equity, social determinants of health, or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in emergency medicine. Each recipient is paired with a faculty research mentor and receives additional support to participate in the SAEM Medical Student Ambassador program at the SAEM Annual Meeting.
