The National Institute on Aging (NIA) plans to continue the Alzheimer's Drug-Development Program (ADDP) to support the pre-clinical and early-stage clinical (Phase I) development of innovative small-molecule and biologic drug candidates for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The program aims to catalyze drug development by funding the most challenging and expensive steps, bridging preclinical research and first-in-human testing. Projects may target prevention, slowing of disease progression, or treatment of cognitive and behavioral symptoms. The program encourages applications that expand the portfolio of investigational drug candidates, address multiple disease mechanisms, and enable precision medicine approaches for AD.
