Summary: Two-year fellowship for AAN nursing scholars to engage in health policy research and leadership at the National Academies, including mentorship and research funding.
Key Information: Only current Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) with a doctoral degree and 4–10 years post-graduate experience are eligible.
This fellowship provides outstanding nursing scholars—who are current Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN)—the opportunity to participate in evidence-based healthcare and public health studies at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Over a two-year period, fellows remain at their home institution while contributing to the work of a designated National Academies board (e.g., Children, Youth, and Families; Food and Nutrition; Global Health; Health Care Services; Health Sciences Policy; or Population Health and Public Health Practice). Fellows receive mentorship from a senior National Academy of Medicine member, engage in study committees and roundtables, and gain exposure to diverse leaders in health policy, government, and science. The program aims to foster leadership in nursing and health policy and to advance the fellow’s academic and professional career.
