Summary: Two-year fellowship for AAN nurse scholars to contribute to health policy studies at the National Academies, including mentorship and research support.
Key Information: Only current AAN Fellows 4–10 years post-doctorate and U.S. citizens/permanent residents are eligible.
This fellowship provides outstanding nurse scholars—who are current Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN)—with a two-year, part-time opportunity to participate directly in evidence-based health care or public health studies at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows continue their primary academic or research roles while engaging with a designated board (e.g., Health Care Services, Global Health) and study committees, contributing to reports and policy outputs. The fellowship supports career development through mentorship by a senior NAM member, professional networking, and a $25,000 flexible research grant (not for salary offset). The experience is designed to build leadership capacity and broaden the fellow’s impact on health policy and practice.
