Funder: University of California San Francisco
Due Dates (Anticipated): March 2027 (Full application deadline, projected)
Funding Amounts: $10,000 (Capacity Building) or up to $50,000 (Research Project); one-year, non-renewable; typically 2–3 Capacity Building and 1–2 Research Project awards per cycle
Summary: Supports collaborative, community-engaged research using anti-racism frameworks to address and dismantle structural racism in health.
Key Information: Meaningful community partner engagement is required for all proposals.
This program funds pilot projects that build research capacity and support empirical studies using anti-racism frameworks to address structural racism and health inequities. There are two award types: Capacity Building Grants (to foster UCSF–community partnerships and develop collaborative research plans) and Research Project Grants (to conduct empirical studies investigating the impact of racism on health and healthcare). Proposals must demonstrate equitable power sharing and meaningful involvement of community partners throughout the research process, from conception to dissemination. Projects that simply document disparities without examining or addressing structural racism, or that only add a focus on inclusion of diverse populations, will not be considered.
