The program is designed to provide supplemental support for crime victim compensation and/or assistance in situations where the scale of the incident exceeds the jurisdiction's existing resources. AEAP funds are available for crisis response, consequence management, criminal justice support, and victim compensation, and may be combined or awarded separately. Only entities specifically invited by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) are eligible to apply, and the funding is intended for extraordinary incidents that are unpredictable, indiscriminate, or unusually broad in impact.
