The fellowship provides Turkish scholars—either PhD holders or current doctoral students—an opportunity for a full academic year of research at the Gennadius Library, part of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. The focus is on intercommunal relationships and the social history of Byzantium or the Ottoman Empire. Fellows are expected to participate in the academic life of the School and contribute to its scholarly community. The Gennadius Library offers access to over 150,000 rare books, manuscripts, archives, and art relevant to Hellenism, Greece, and neighboring civilizations.
