--- ## Description The award recognizes and encourages outstanding achievement in organic chemistry. Each year, up to ten Arthur C. Cope Scholars are selected across three career stages: early career, mid-career, and distinguished. Recipients receive a personal cash prize, an unrestricted research grant for their institution of choice, and are honored at major American Chemical Society (ACS) events, including the Arthur C. Cope Symposium at the ACS Fall Meeting. Travel expenses and additional honoraria are provided for required presentations. --- ## Due Dates - November 2026: Nomination deadline (anticipated/projected) - December 2026: Extended nomination deadline (anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - $5,000 cash award to the recipient - $40,000 unrestricted research grant to a university or non-profit institution selected by the recipient - Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the ACS Fall Meeting - $500 honorarium plus travel expenses if presenting at an ACS regional meeting --- ## Eligibility - Open to individuals in organic chemistry at three career stages: - Early Career: Less than 10 years since terminal degree (2 awards) - Mid Career: 10–25 years since terminal degree (4 awards) - Distinguished: More than 25 years since terminal degree (4 awards) - Nominees must not have previously received an Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award or the Arthur C. Cope Award - No restrictions based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability status, or educational background --- ## Application Process - Nominations are accepted annually during the summer and fall, with deadlines typically in November or December (see above for anticipated dates) - Nominations must include: - Detailed nomination letter - Supporting documents (such as CV, publication list, and letters of support) - Recipients are required to deliver an address at the Arthur C.
