This grant funds projects that connect Southern artists with new Southern communities through public arts programming and engagement activities. It is designed to increase access to the arts, expand audiences, and broaden the reach of arts programming across the nine-state South Arts region. Projects must involve an artist or artist company from one Southern state visiting another Southern state to deliver both a public presentation (such as a performance, exhibition, reading, or screening) and an educational or community engagement activity (like a workshop, demonstration, lecture, or master class). Supported disciplines include film, traditional arts, visual arts, performing arts, and literary arts. The program is intended to foster meaningful connections between professional artists and communities, emphasizing artistic excellence, thoughtful planning, and strategic contributions to the Southern arts ecosystem.
