This biennial fellowship, jointly sponsored by the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) and the UCLA Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies / Clark Library, supports postdoctoral scholars and ABD (all-but-dissertation) graduate students undertaking research projects related to the Restoration or the eighteenth century that require substantive use of the Clark Library’s unique collections. The program aims to foster scholarship across a wide range of disciplines, leveraging the Clark’s extensive holdings in rare books, manuscripts, and primary sources.
Fellowship recipients are required to complete a one-month residential research stay at the Clark Library in Los Angeles. The program is open to both U.S. and eligible international scholars, provided they are members in good standing of ASECS. The fellowship also offers the opportunity for awardees to apply for an add-on ATBL Research Fellowship, supporting short-term research at the British Library.
