Description
The pilot A*STAR/RGC Joint Research Scheme is jointly run by Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Its debut 2026/27 round supports joint integrated research conducted by scholars and researchers at research institutes and universities in Singapore and Hong Kong. The scheme encourages innovative, bold thinking and pioneering work with potentially high payoff or impact.
A two-phase approach gives teams an initial period to test high-risk, high-reward ideas before a joint review selects the most promising projects for continued research. The collaboration is intended to advance science and academic research while addressing challenges facing both places. Supported work must fall within one of three areas: Artificial Intelligence for Smart Cities of Tomorrow, Science for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, or Translational Immunology and Emerging Diseases.
