Description
This scheme is a joint initiative between the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) and Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), designed to foster collaborative, high-impact research between Hong Kong and Singapore. The grant targets integrated projects led by researchers from both regions in three priority areas:
- Artificial Intelligence for Smart Cities of Tomorrow
- Science for Energy and Environmental Sustainability
- Translational Immunology and Emerging Diseases
The funding adopts a two-phase approach: up to 10 projects are selected for an initial 24-month period (Phase 1), after which a joint review will select up to 3 projects for a further 36-month funding period (Phase 2). The scheme emphasizes bold, high-risk, high-reward research, and aims to build strategic partnerships that advance scientific discovery and address regional challenges.
