The American Psychoanalytic Association’s Award for Excellence in Journalism is an annual prize established in 1999 to honor high-quality professional reporting or short-form writing that brings psychoanalytic perspectives to the public. The award is intended for work that clarifies, challenges, or advances public understanding of human behavior, relationships, mental health, or psychologically complex social issues by explicitly employing psychoanalytic thinking. The winning piece is selected by a jury of professional journalists and psychoanalysts experienced in public communication, and the recipient is recognized at the APsA National Meeting.
