The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Impact Computing Project at the Harvard Data Science Initiative (HDSI) is designed to catalyze transformative research at the intersection of data science and high-performance computing. This collaborative program between Harvard and AWS aims to empower researchers to address society’s most complex and urgent challenges—ranging from public health and climate to policy and scientific discovery—by providing access to advanced computational resources and fostering cross-disciplinary innovation. Projects are expected to use or advance cutting-edge computational methods, including AI/ML, and to generate outputs that can inform policy, produce open datasets or software, and create real-world impact.
