Cure SMA's Basic Research Funding Opportunities are designed to advance scientific understanding of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) by supporting research projects and postdoctoral fellowships that investigate the disease's causes, biology, and potential new treatment strategies. The program is guided by the Cure SMA Scientific Advisory Board and prioritizes high-impact, innovative research that aligns with the organization's mission to accelerate the discovery of effective SMA therapies. Both established investigators and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply, with a particular focus on novel, high-risk/high-reward projects and seed funding for exploratory studies.
