The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER), under the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, conducts a competitive statewide process to identify and support high-priority wetland and river restoration projects. Projects are selected based on their potential to deliver substantial ecological and community benefits, such as improved water quality, habitat restoration, climate resiliency, and enhanced public access. Eligible project types include cranberry bog wetland restoration, dam removal and river restoration, and coastal wetland restoration, as well as projects combining these focus areas. Selected projects may receive technical assistance, technical services through DER contractors, and/or direct grant funding.
