    Description

The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation’s eighth Polish National Research Grant competition supports research on the role of the microbiome in non-infectious inflammatory diseases. The 2026 call welcomes clinical or basic research that deepens understanding of disease development and explores potential preventive or therapeutic applications. Relevant disease contexts include autoimmune diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, allergies, and inflammatory cardiovascular conditions.

The scientific focus is the intestinal microbiota’s influence on the gut–immune system axis and the balance between inflammation and immune tolerance. The competition encourages innovative approaches to microbial balance, immune-response regulation, preventive medicine, and personalized therapies. The Foundation’s Scientific Council oversees scientific assessment, considering research significance, innovation, and potential impact on clinical practice and public health.
