    Description

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) seeks to fund international research and capacity-building projects that reduce the risk of biological threats. The program focuses on strengthening the ability of partner nations and the global community to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease outbreaks—whether natural, accidental, or deliberate. Projects should enhance biosurveillance, biosecurity, and biosafety, and foster sustainable, cooperative relationships with partner countries.

Priority is given to projects that are multi-sectoral, multi-institutional, and that build on prior BTRP investments. The program encourages coordination with other U.S. government, academic, and international initiatives.
