Description
This grant opportunity from the European Commission under Horizon Europe supports large-scale research and innovation projects aimed at boosting the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the organic farming sector in Europe. Projects should generate new knowledge and develop safe, viable, and cost-effective innovations addressing agronomic, environmental, social, biodiversity, climate, economic, value chain, and market-related challenges in organic production. Both crop and livestock systems are eligible.
Consortia must establish and connect experimental sites across diverse European pedo-climatic conditions to co-create, test, validate, and upscale solutions. Projects must foster knowledge exchange, networking, and best practice sharing among farmers and stakeholders, ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches, and build on previous EU-funded work without duplication. Active collaboration within the EU’s organic farming research ecosystem and involvement of Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines are required to maximize sectoral impact.
