These fellowships, established to mark the British Council’s 90th anniversary, are designed to support early-career postdoctoral researchers from Official Development Assistance (ODA)-recipient countries where the British Council operates. Fellows spend ten months in residence at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH), University of Edinburgh, followed by up to two months in their home country for knowledge exchange and dissemination in collaboration with the British Council. The program aims to foster international research connections, support capacity building, and generate new knowledge in areas aligned with the British Council’s mission.
Research themes include, but are not limited to: Arts, Education, the English language, international relations, soft power, international development, peace building, and cultural diplomacy. Fellows benefit from academic mentoring, networking, and participation in the IASH scholarly community.
