The Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (BSCI) is a Maryland state-administered grant funded by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) and managed by the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP). The program aims to reduce firearm-related harm by supporting system-level crisis intervention strategies at the intersection of behavioral health, crisis response, and the criminal justice system. Eligible activities include implementing or enhancing Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO) programs, crisis intervention court proceedings, behavioral health deflection, specialized court programs, and crisis intervention training for law enforcement. Projects must be evidence-based, multidisciplinary, and designed to improve coordination and outcomes for individuals at risk of firearm violence.
