    Description

Caltech’s Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in early modern English literature, beginning in fall 2027. The appointed scholar will join an interdisciplinary humanities group and teach four seminar-style undergraduate courses annually, distributed across three quarters.

The opportunity combines literary scholarship with undergraduate education and mentorship. Applicants submit a research statement and a sample of original written work, alongside an education statement addressing classroom and laboratory instruction, mentorship of students and postdoctoral scholars, and ways to foster an inclusive environment for scholars with different perspectives and experiences. The initial tenure-track appointment is normally four years.
