Description
Capacity Building Grants are internal, seed funding opportunities offered by the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station to faculty within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Virginia Tech. Designed to assemble and support interdisciplinary research teams—particularly those collaborating with Agricultural Research and Extension Center (AREC) facilities—these grants aim to stimulate both basic and translational research, advance agricultural outreach, and strengthen research and Extension activities at key AREC locations. The program’s overarching goal is to improve faculty competitiveness for larger, extramural grants and foster greater utilization of specialized AREC resources.
