Key Information: Only institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are eligible; traditional research studies and major equipment are NOT supported.
The Capacity Building in International Dementia Research (CBIDR) Program, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association and the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), aims to strengthen research infrastructure at institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The program focuses on supporting activities that enable sustainable research capacity, such as developing training programs, expanding research tools, collecting normative data, community outreach, supporting essential research personnel, building databases, organizing skill-based workshops, and providing administrative or technical training.
This program is not intended to fund traditional research studies (e.g., observational or experimental studies), major equipment purchases (over $10,000 per unit), or construction/renovation of facilities. Instead, it is designed to help institutions overcome sustainability barriers and build the foundation for larger, more impactful research portfolios.
