The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Research Institute (CAPRI) is a two-year, cohort-based program designed to support early career child and adolescent psychiatrists in developing the skills and professional networks necessary for successful research careers. Supported by the National Institute of Mental Health and hosted by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), CAPRI begins with an intensive two-day event at the AACAP Annual Meeting and continues with monthly webinars and ongoing mentorship for the following year. The program provides up to 12 participants with direct mentorship from leading experts, structured feedback on research proposals, exposure to NIH officers, and targeted sessions on career development, grant writing, and community building. The primary goal is to improve participants’ competitiveness for NIH K awards or other independent research funding.
