The CCSS + CPC Grant Development Program is a yearlong initiative jointly run by the Cornell Center for Social Sciences (CCSS) and the Cornell Population Center (CPC). This program is designed to support social and population scientists at Cornell in developing competitive proposals for external research funding, especially for agencies such as NIH, NSF, and major foundations. The program uses a scaffolded model that includes panel discussions, training workshops, cohort-based grant writing incubators, individualized expert feedback, and external expert review. It aims to increase high-quality external grant submissions, foster cross-campus collaborations, and provide targeted support for junior faculty and emerging scholars.
Participants selected as Writing Fellows receive structured guidance through regular incubator meetings, proposal development sessions, and a culminating writing retreat. Additional support includes professional editing, mock review panels, and expert reads of near-final proposals.
