Description
This opportunity provides supplemental funding to the existing Center of Excellence at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, supporting research and development aimed at improving the safety, efficiency, reliability, resiliency, and sustainability of passenger and freight rail transportation. The program funds basic and applied research, evaluation, education, workforce development, training, and technology transfer activities related to urban commuter, intercity high-speed, and freight rail systems. Outcomes include research results and enhanced workforce and educational programs that support advancements in railroad safety and project delivery.
