The Providence/Boston Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) Developmental Grants program at Brown University provides funding for innovative biomedical and behavioral HIV/AIDS research projects. The program is designed to support three types of projects: Initial AIDS Research Projects (for investigators without prior R01-type HIV/AIDS funding), New to HIV Research Projects (for established investigators new to HIV research), and Collaborative Projects (for new collaborations between HIV investigators at Brown and Boston University or their affiliated hospitals). The primary aim is to help researchers generate preliminary data that will strengthen future NIH grant applications. Proposals are encouraged to align with NIH HIV/AIDS Research Priorities, and projects involving faculty from groups underrepresented in biomedical research are especially welcomed.
