This fellowship supports scholars conducting research on any LGBTQ+ topic that utilizes the New York Public Library’s extensive collections and resources. The program is designed to advance original scholarship and encourage innovative use of archival materials, with a particular emphasis on the Library’s premier LGBTQ+ collections, which include rare books, historic newspapers, manuscripts, and materials documenting LGBTQ+ history and the AIDS crisis. Preference is given to doctoral candidates, early career scholars, and independent researchers who do not hold permanent academic appointments, but established scholars are also eligible.
