--- ## Description The Civil Infrastructure Systems (CIS) program funds fundamental and transformative research on the design, operation, and management of civil infrastructure systems. The program aims to advance the creation of smart, sustainable, and resilient communities at local, national, and international scales. CIS emphasizes a systems approach, focusing on the interactions and interconnections among distributed infrastructure components such as transportation, power, water, and pipelines. Research that introduces disruptive concepts, opens new frontiers, and significantly broadens or transforms the field is especially encouraged. Priority areas include: - Novel system and service design - System integration - Big data analytics - Socio-technological-infrastructure connections The program values diverse theoretical, scientific, mathematical, and computational contributions from a broad array of disciplines.
