Funder: Clark Art Institute
Due Dates: October 15, 2026 (Annual application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Semester fellowship with a stipend, housing, and an office
Summary: Supports independent research in modern and contemporary art through residence at the Clark and archival study at ISLAA in New York City.
Key Information: Fellows undertake a one-week ISLAA residency and give a public lecture there; Latin American art specialization is not required.
The Clark Art Institute offers this fellowship in partnership with the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA). It supports a scholar of modern and contemporary art whose research would benefit from sustained engagement with ISLAA’s archives in New York City. Although ISLAA’s holdings focus on modern and contemporary Latin American art, the fellow need not specialize in Latin American art.
The fellowship combines independent research at the Clark in Williamstown, Massachusetts, with a one-week research residency at ISLAA’s archives and library. At the Clark, the fellow joins a community of scholars, has full access to the library, archives, and collections, and participates in Research and Academic Program seminars and colloquia. During the New York residency, the fellow presents their research in a public lecture for ISLAA’s audience and the broader New York public.
