Summary: Funds collaborative research to develop climate adaptation solutions for sustainable and productive Norwegian agriculture, forestry, and reindeer husbandry.
Key Information: Project Owner must be an approved Norwegian research organisation; at least three Norwegian non-research user partners required.
This grant supports research and innovation projects aimed at developing climate adaptation solutions for Norwegian agriculture, including forestry and reindeer husbandry. The goal is to generate new knowledge, methods, and solutions that enable the sector to handle challenging production conditions caused by climate change, while also leveraging new opportunities such as longer growing seasons and new species. Projects should focus on strengthening production at the primary stage through climate risk management, improved water and land management, sustainable production methods, and increased preparedness. Emphasis is on interdisciplinary collaboration between research groups and relevant societal and industry actors, with a requirement for co-creation and practical testing. Thematic areas include risk and preparedness, extreme weather and water management, climate data and modelling, adaptation of farming methods, plant breeding and health, cost-benefit analyses, and factors affecting implementation of climate adaptation measures.
