    Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking applications to establish a Clinical Research Network on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The initiative aims to address the growing health threat posed by AMR, which limits treatment options and increases the risk of persistent, hard-to-treat infections, particularly in individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancer. The network will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing clinical research to answer critical questions related to AMR, with a focus on bacterial and fungal infections. Key activities include clinical testing of new antibiotics and alternative therapies (e.g., bacteriophage therapy), optimizing the use of existing antibiotics, evaluating novel diagnostic approaches, and mentoring upcoming AMR clinical researchers.
