--- ## Description This fellowship provides early career clinicians with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical trials within a UKCRC-registered Clinical Trial Unit (CTU). The scheme aims to develop future leaders in cancer clinical trials by offering structured training, mentorship, and access to networking opportunities. Fellows are expected to spend a significant portion of their time on academic research and are encouraged to participate in activities such as observing the Clinical Research Monitoring Panel. The award is designed to help clinicians progress toward Chief Investigator roles in practice-changing cancer trials. --- ## Due Dates - Full application deadline: September 11, 2025 - Interviews: October 2025 Applicants must contact the CRUK Office to discuss eligibility and proposal suitability before starting an application and must receive a unique application link at least one month before the deadline. --- ## Funding Amount - Up to £50,000 per year for a maximum of 3 years (total up to £150,000) - Funding covers 50% of salary, running expenses, and equipment costs - The host institution (or another partner) must provide the remaining 50% (match funding confirmation required at application) - Part-time working is supported (minimum 0.5 FTE or 80% of working hours on academic research) --- ## Eligibility Applicants must: - Be clinically trained and have completed the Foundation Programme - Be within specialty and run-through training period - Be eligible to complete clinical training and practise medicine in the UK - Demonstrate skills and experience at the ‘Develop Independence’ career stage per the [CRUK Fellowships Competency Framework](https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/funding-for-researchers/research-career-development-opportunities/competency-framework-for-fellowships) - Apply in collaboration with a UKCRC-registered CTU, with a senior CTU staff member as Joint Lead Applicant and host - If planning to complete CCT and become a consultant during the fellowship, provide evidence of protected time to finish the fellowship post-CCT --- ## Application Process 1. **Contact CRUK**: Email [fellowships@cancer.org.uk](mailto:fellowships@cancer.org.uk) with your CV, a one-page summary of your proposed programme, motivation for the fellowship, and how you will balance clinical commitments. 2. **Eligibility Check**: If eligible, CRUK will provide a direct link to the Flexi-Grant application portal.
